Could we soon be in store for a Knicks-Nets trade blockbuster?
As the countdown to the February 8 NBA trade deadline rolls on, the Knicks stand out as one of the most fascinating teams in the market.
Regardless of New York's deadline buy-or-sell strategy, big picture needs must be met in order for the franchise to become a true contender down the line.
According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, that includes looking to become a more athletic team.
One name to watch in trade discussions over the next week, Nets forward Rondae-Hollis Jefferson.
"We need everybody to play as hard as they can," Jeff Hornacek said. "We're not the size and athleticism of a lot of these teams so we've got to do that."
It's no surprise, then, that the Knicks have interest in the Nets' athletic defensive forward, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, 23, but The Post reported Brooklyn seeks a first-rounder.
Jefferson is an improving third-year player for the Nets, averaging 14.3 points per game this season. The do-it-all wing has seen increases across almost every statistical category this season, and has the skill set to become an impact defender at multiple positions.
For the Knicks, adding Jefferson's skill set around a big man like Kristaps Porzingis could give the coaching staff options on both ends of the floor.
Would the Knicks truly give up a first-rounder for Jefferson? We could find out by the 3 p.m. deadline on February 8.
