USC coach Will Muschamp is finishing up his 2018 recruiting work while at the same time steadily building his 2019 class. Friday he added his sixth piece to that next class with a commitment from WR Jamario Holley (5-10 165) of Northwestern.
Holley also has early offers from Kentucky, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Arkansas and East Carolina. He attended USC's junior day last month and that got the ball rolling towards his pledge.
"He enjoyed it. He saw where the players live and the saw the facilities," said Northwestern coach James Martin. "He'd been in the locker room before for the state championship in 2015. He had a good meeting with their coaches, a good sit down and they talked to him one on one."
One on one seems to be where Holley excels on the field. Last season he was among the state's best with 75 catches for 1178 yards and 18 touchdowns.
"He has the ability to catch the ball wherever it's thrown," Martin said. "It doesn't matter. His hands are awesome. And he has the ability to get open in one on one situations. He's able to get away from defenders when needed. Once you get the ball in his hands, he has vision of the whole field and has that gear to get away."
Holley is the first skill position player to commit to the Gamecocks for the 2019 class.
