Can you handle the cold? Birds can! And those who like ’em can join in Saturday’s Winter Bird Walk for Beginners. Nancy Tognan of the Queens County Bird Club will lead a stroll around Oakland Lake — which never freezes and therefore draws plenty of winter wildlife — seeking ducks, coots, grebes, swans and more. The event is for those 8 and up (children must be accompanied), and space is limited, so you must RSVP. It runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., starting at the Alley Pond Environmental Center, located at 228-06 Northern Blvd. in Douglaston. And it’s free. Info/pre-registration (req’d): (718) 229-4000, alleypond.com.

On the warmer side of things, you might head over to the Museum of the Moving Image for A Henson Valentine, a screening of “The Muppets Valentine Show” and a “Muppet Show” episode featuring a wedding sketch. You can catch it either Saturday or Sunday at 11 a.m. at the museum located at 36-01 35 Ave. in Astoria. Tickets are $15; or $11 for seniors and students; and $7 for kids 3 to 17. As with all MoMI screenings, the price includes full museum admission. Info: (718) 777-6888, movingimage.us.

If warm isn’t quite enough and you’re looking for real heat, the Tango Fire show at the Queens Theatre may be just the thing. The popular Argentinian dance troupe will be performing both traditional and modern tango, along with a ballet crossover. The curtain rises at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday, at 14 United Nations Ave. South in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Tickets are $20 to $42. Info: (718) 760-0064, queenstheatre.org

This weekend’s installment of Hands-on History at the King Manor Museum is Quilling Paper Crafts. Kids 3 and up and adults will be making valentines 19th-century style, twirling strips of paper into tight spirals to make beautiful, lacy shapes. The fun workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the museum at 150-03 Jamaica Ave. in Jamaica, and it’s free to join in. Info: (718) 206-0545, kingmanor.org.

How would you like to see two expert piano players go at it? Sound fun? Then check out Piano Battle! It’ll feature pianists Andreas Kern and Paul Cibis performing in distinctly different styles and improvising, with the audience voting on the winner of each round. The ivories will be tickled from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Colden Auditorium, located at 153-49 Reeves Ave. on the Queens College campus in Flushing. Tickets run from $30 to $49.
