Hiland 90, Newcomerstown 9
Senior Morgan McMillen played an efficient 13 minutes, shooting 8 of 11 and 3 of 4 from downtown to finish with a team-high and season-high 21 points in the Inter-Valley romp over Newcomerstown. Fellow senior Kennedy Schlabach poured in 19 points and handed out five assists as Hiland earned coach Dave Schlabach his 600th career coaching win.
Zoe Miller added 11 points and Kelsey Swihart eight as the Hawks saw 13 players score points in the lopsided win.
Norwayne 39, Smithville 27
A tough stretch in the middle two quarters was the difference with Norwayne outscoring Smithville 24-6 to decide the outcome of the Wayne County Athletic League contest.
The Bobcats were led by Caitlyn DeMassimo with 13 points, as she nailed three triples and dished out three assists, and Taylor DeMassimo, who had a dozen points. Kennedy Kay paced Norwayne on the glass with seven rebounds.
Sarah Meech paced the Smithies with 13 points and five rebounds.
Rittman 50, Hillsdale 28
An explosive first half saw Rittman jump all over Hillsdale 32-10 en route to getting the WCAL win.
Erica Gasser led the Indians with a dozen points, Cora Wilson poured in all 11 of her points in the first half and Kaliana Sisouphanh finished with 10 points.
The Falcons were led by Jordan Taylor and Alayna Furr with eight points each as Furr snared a team-high four rebounds. Grace Keets chipped in six points and Alyvia Elliott finished with four for Hillsdale.
Wooster 69, Lexington 44
A big first quarter saw Wooster take control of the Ohio Cardinal Conference game and never look back in dominating Lexington to stay unbeaten in the OCC.
The Generals were led by Ny'Eemah Brown with 21 points, eight rebounds and three assists, and Macyn Siegenthaler finished with 19 points, four boards and the sophomore dropped seven dimes. Stephanie Smith posted 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Daisha Brown totaled eight points for the OCC champs.
West Holmes 56, Madison 44
West Holmes notched the OCC win led by Kaylor Perone's game-high 15 points and five steals.
Taylor Miller also played well for the Knights with 12 points and four rebounds, and Paige Race finished with 10 points and three boards for the Knights.
Girls Bowling
Triway 2,501, Wooster 2,293
In the battle for bowling supremacy in Wayne County, Triway owned the day defending its home lanes against Wooster.
Leading the Titans’ charge with games of 234 and 206 was Lexi Rose, while Maddi Burns was wheeling and dealing with scores of 189 and 182. Karlee Immel added scores of 145 and 160 for Triway.
The Generals were paced by Allie Leiendecker, who nearly matched Rose pin for pin with games of 222 and 214, Alexis Cichello nailed up a 156 and 141 and Powers-Good finished with games of 173 and 153.
Boys Bowling
Triway 2,864, Wooster 2,481
On the boys side of the battle of neighboring rivals, Triway rolled its way past Wooster for the win at Triway Lanes.
Jared Yoder set the tone with games of 246 and 237 and Bradac Halpin was locating his rolls perfectly with scores of 248 and 191 for Triway. Casey Freeman added a 246 and 191, Shawn Gerber rolled games of 243 and 177 and Kyle Krebs finished with a 182 and 200 for the Titans.
Keeton Purvis led the Generals with scores of 146 and 203, while Garrett Fleming had games of 231 and 166, Justin Huffman rolled a 236 and 184 and Tim Hutchinson had a 160 and 215.
Wrestling
Orrville 51, Wooster 12
In matches that were contested outside of five forfeits, Orrville tallied up five pins in beating Wooster.
Cory Stiffler (126), Kollen Butler (138), Wyatt Zimmerman (145), Cameron Vanbrunt (195) and Sam Auble (220) all earned pins to lead the Red Riders, while Coddie Phillips battled for a 4-1 decision at 285.
The Generals were paced by Brad Stoll with a pin at 132, while Jarret (152) and Joey Lyons (160) each won by decision, 4-2 and 8-4, respectively.
