Prince Edward to realize Suresh Subramaniam’s dream

Britain’s Prince Edward and his wife, the Countess of Wessex, this afternoon (02) laid the foundation for an indoor court of Sri Lanka Tennis Association.

They are in the country to attend the 70th independence anniversary as the chief guests.

The two royal guests and other invitees were welcomed on arrival by vice chairman of the Asian Tennis Federation Suresh Subramaniam and other tennis officials. They watched a game of wheelchair tennis. Later, the couple had a friendly chat with the players, who are from the Army and have won tennis colours.

Thereafter, the foundation was laid for the indoor court. Participants also appeared for a group photograph.

Sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara too, participated.
