John Novak, 99, passed away on Feb. 2, 2018
John Novak, 99, of Augusta,passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 at home.
Visitation 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, and service 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, both at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery Augusta.
John was born in Mulberry, Kan. on Sept. 7, 1918, to the late Antonia (Pousher) and John Novak. In his early years, he worked as a coal miner and worked in an ammunition plant before serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. Later John worked as a carpenter. On Jan. 28, 1946 he married Barbara Jo (Murphy), with whom he had his three children. He later married Cleo (Tharpe).
He is survived by: son, John Novak and wife Carol of Augusta; daughters, Teresa Turner and husband Jim of Augusta, Ronda Lawrence of Bell Plaine; grandchildren, Misty Barkus and husband Travis, Donavan Lawrence and wife Amanda, Cherie Turner and husband Greg, Stacey Anderson, Christopher Novak and wife Renee, Alan Novak and wife Dalyn; great grandchildren, Owen Barkus, Vivian Barkus, Ivy, Colton Anderson, Mason, Anderson, Devin Anderson, Jace Novak, Luke Novak, Camille Novak, and Cole Novak; step daughters, Bonnie Salvage, and Mary Cochran; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Christine Weiss; son in law, Don Lawrence; grandson in law, Kirk Anderson; former wives, Barbara Jo, and Cleo.
