THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Presenting the state budget at the Assembly, Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Isaac has said that the state’s social welfare pension list would be renewed.

A new list would be announced excluding the ineligible people from it. People with two acres of land, 1200 square feet house, people paying income tax, and people dependent on these tax payers would be excluded from the social welfare pension list. And if these people illegally receive pension by any illegal means, they will have to pay it back to the government.

The minister said a joint pension scheme would be introduced for those who would become ineligible for the social welfare pension.

Dr. Isaac also said that he would prepare a budget giving priority for the elderly from next year.
