Feb. 2 — To the Editor:
I guess I am stating the obvious, but things are getting a little weird in our country. When it comes to the major issues — climate, health care, income inequality, education, infrastructure — there is just nobody working on these issues, or at least we don’t hear too much from our “leaders.” No speeches, no fireside chats, no press conferences, no position papers, no town hall meetings. Nothing. Our president spends most of the day in bed watching Fox news, playing golf, or figuring out how to cover his messes (lawsuits, Russia, time with porno star, etc.). His whole family is spending our money protecting their brand and traveling back and forth from Mirage-a-Lago. Life in America!
What is going on? Where are the details on infrastructure? And the funding? And how about the funding for the opioid crisis, remember that? What about Texas and Puerto Rico? Can we have some follow-up? How is Jared’s work on peace in the Middle East going? And Melania, she was working on bullying; how’s that project coming along? And since Ivanka has top security clearance, maybe it might be nice to get a report from her. I mean, the pictures of her pulling her hair back as she steps off a plane are so touching. And, boy, we really feel for her when her products get discontinued. That must be bad for America.
Everybody knows it: America is like an airplane being flown by dead pilots. There is only one question that remains—where will we crash?
