Thomas Schmitt was excited to make contact again with his second cousin, Brigitte McArdle, who is 94, in Sharon.
After I sent him the Jan. 30 column about McArdle, he emailed:
"It was a pleasure for me to read your article and to see those videos. Now things are rolling on...
"Me and my 90-year-old mother, a cousin of Brigitte are delighted to have contact again with Brigitte,
My mother and her spend two years together as fugitives in a small village in Hessen.
"Last year I traveled with my wife to Poland searching for our family roots, and we also visited a small village named Schönbaum, near the weichsel river, where the grandparents of Brigitte lived...
"This is the A win win situation-
I got the contact and you got your story!
"I wish you a pleasant evening enjoy your life!"
keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars...
The best greetings to the US."
Schmitt recently purchased one of McArdle's paintings from her new web site, Memories and Dreams, as he had expressed interest in doing. He bought "Late Party," a scene of life in the early 1940s in Berlin.
