Most of you will know that you can barely go a week without receiving at least one scam email or text message, and some of them look far more convincing than others.

Currently, people are receiving a scam text claiming to be from the DVLA, Wales Online reports.

Many Twitter users have been Tweeting the DVLA to ask if the text they've been receiving is actually from them.

The DVLA responded to these queries with: "Hi, that text isn't from us. Please ignore it and don’t click on any link. We are investigating the matter."

The actual scam text asks people to complete a form below which asks for personal details reading: "Please complete the form below in order for us to process your vehicle tax refund. DVLA will usually send repayments within 1 week, but it may take longer in some cases.

"You should wait 4 weeks after making an online claim and 6 weeks after making a postal claim before contacting DVLA about the payment."

A DVLA spokeswoman said: “We are aware that some members of the public are receiving emails and texts claiming to be from DVLA.

“Anyone getting these should delete the message and don’t click the link.”

Last year, a similar scam was sent via email which also included a link to a 'secure web form.'

The correspondence targeting motorists says: “We would like to notify you that you have an outstanding vehicle tax refund of £239.35 from an overpayment, request a refund.”
