In case you haven’t noticed, February has rolled around on the calendar.
Not to mention the fact that today is Ground Hog Day.
Not to mention the fact that today is Ground Hog Day.
Ok, enough with the funny attempts at groundhog humor. Because whether or not the furry little Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow or not this morning up in Pennsylvania, the time is quickly approaching for two annual Ducks Unlimited February fundraisers.
First up is the annual Texoma Ducks Unlimited Couple’s Dinner at the Sherman Municipal Building Ballroom on Friday, Feb. 16.
A longtime fixture on the mid-February calendar, the Grayson County DU event is returning to a catered Cajun meal from Savoie’s of Shreveport with a menu that will include fried chicken fingers, fried shrimp, crawfish etoufee, and more.
According to longtime DU worker Jim Lillis of Sherman, this year’s Texoma event will feature 13 sporting firearms to be raffled and auctioned off, plenty of collectible DU artwork and merchandise, and items designed for the ladies in attendance at the annual Couple’s event.
Advance ticket prices are $45 for singles and $50 per couple. Ticket prices increase by $10 at the door.
“Your ticket includes dinner, beverages for the evening, the opportunity to participate in the live and silent auctions, and the chance to get in on several special drawings that will feature some great prizes,” said Lillis. “Your ticket also includes a one-year membership to Ducks Unlimited and a subscription to DU’s superb magazine.”
Lillis said that tickets can be purchased at Risk Shoe Repair in downtown Sherman or from Dr. Mark Smith’s dental office in Sherman. Tickets are also available online at www.ducks.org/Texas/events .

Also keep in mind that the following evening on Saturday, Feb. 17, the Red River Valley Ducks Unlimited chapter over in Gainesville will host its 2018 fundraiser.
That barbecue dinner will be held once again at the Gainesville Civic Center with doors opening at 6 p.m.
