With no fresh incident of violence being reported from Kasganj in the last 24 hours, the situation is limping back to normal. The entire district has been turned into a fortress with heavy deployment of security personnel. Senior officers were still camping there to avert any exigency.
ADG (Law and order) Anand Kumar said in Lucknow on Thursday that the local police was making all out efforts to trace out two more absconding accused Naseem and Waseem, who are the brothers of prime accused Saleem. Accused of killing Chandan Gupta on Republic Day, Saleem was arrested on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, shops selling essential items and medicines opened at Kasganj under the vigilant eye of police and para-military forces even though the number of customers was less as compared to mnormal days.
“After communal clashes broke out during a Tiranga Yatra on January 26, authorities deployed around 400 jawans of RAF and PAC and rushed eight ASPs, 14 COs and 25 SHOs to ensure law and order,” said SP of Kasganj Piyush Srivastava.
The issue acquired a political hue with leaders of various parties seeking to score points and the state government came under fire over the clashes.
On Wednesday evening in Shahjahanpur, three people were injured after volunteers clashed among themselves during a ‘Tiranga Rally’ being taken out by some Hindu outfits. The authorities have imposed prohibitory orders in almost all western UP towns against taking out of Tiranga Yatra.
