Dance Team: Warriors compete in Section 4-3A meet Saturday
The Brainerd Warrior Dance Team will compete in the Section 4-3A meet Saturday at Forest Lake High School, 6101 Scandia Trail North, Forest Lake.
Kick begins at 11 a.m. and jazz at 1 p.m. Awards will be approximately 3:10 p.m.
Tickets go on sale at 9:30 a.m. Doors open to the public at 10:20 a.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students. Brainerd fans should sit on the sound system side of the gym as the Warriors will face that side.
The top teams in each division will move onto the Class 3A state tournament.
"We are working toward going to state in both," Warriors coach Cindy Clough said. "It is tougher every year as teams keep getting better. In kick this year, we have been beat by Anoka and Sauk Rapids and tied in total points with Blaine. In jazz, we have been beat by Anoka, Blaine, Sauk Rapids and Tech so that will be a battle. It really comes down to how we execute on that given day.
"We dance first and kick and almost last in jazz so we will have a long time in between. We will have to work at making it not too long, as it is a long time to stay in the zone. Coaches are seasoned at handling that however. Our team is young, with only three seniors competing out of 24. Many have not been to sections. It will definitely be an exciting day to cheer on Brainerd."
