Researchers from the Institute for Transport Studies at Leeds University are participating in a 30-month autonomous vehicle project in the UK. The 'HumanDrive' project is led by Nissan's European Technical Centre to develop driverless vehicle technologies that can handle varied UK driving scenarios.
The HumanDrive project will end in December 2019 with a 200+ mile 'Grand Drive' through various settings, including motorways and country roads. The project will also be used to boost public awareness of and confidence in autonomous vehicles, and enable authorities responsible for road networks and safety to benefit from automated transport system technology developments. HumanDrive is jointly funded by the UK Government and industry.
