Union Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary Parameshawaran Aiyar today said that energetic leadership and enthusiastic people of Jharkhand, especially the teamwork and empowerment of women, have contributed to make the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan successful in the State. The Ministry will spread the story of the success of this campaign in Simdega all over the country, he said during a ‘Swachhta Samvad’ organised under ‘Swachhta Sankalp Abhiyan’ of Swachh Bharat Mission at Ambapani village of Joram Panchayat in Simdega district.
Appreciating the spirit of Ramkumar Lugoon of Kombokera village of Bansjor block, he said that he has made incomparable contribution in making the toilets to the entire village with his own hard work. He called Ramkumar the hero of the real movie. Aiyar congratulated Amuni Dungdung of the sixth grade who wrote to her parents and motivate them to make toilets in the house. Emphasizing the use of the toilet as well as its use, he said that the enthusiasm they put in the construction of toilets, he should also behaved with the same enthusiasm in using it. Referring to a study by UNICEF, he said that with the construction and use of the toilet, a family can save up to 40 per cent of its expenses.
Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma said on the occasion that the work done in the direction of cleanliness in Ambapani village is exemplary for the entire State. Their enthusiasm for cleanliness by women, their emotions, their will power, and the confidence are the key to the success of this whole campaign. She said that cleanliness is such an aspect that affects the individual and social life of every person in the society. Describing cleanliness as a bigger capital, she said that being clean and equitable of cleanliness facilities is very important.
Secretary of Drinking Water and Sanitation department, Aradhana Patnayak, said that since 26th January, the Swakshta Samvad has started in the state. First opportunity was given to Simdega because Simdega tops in the entire State in the Sanitation campaign. The quality is kept in the toilet built here. People's participation is appreciated.
In the programme, welcome speech was made by Deputy Commissioner Simdega Manjunath Bhajantri. Apart from this, Director Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Rajesh Kumar Sharma also shared his views.
