Bobby Ray Parks fires up Alab Pilipinas vs Chong Son Kung Fu

MANILA, Philippines — Alab Pilipinas pulled off a tough 94-91 overtime victory over Chong Son Kung Fu Basketball Club to stay in contention in the ASEAN Basketball League at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex Wednesday.

Reigning MVP Bobby Ray Parks broke his slump and fired a season-high 31 points and drew another superb games from the power duo of Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman, who combined for 30 points and 27 rebounds.

The victory thus hiked Alab’s record to 7-4 while handing Chong Son its second defeat against six wins.

Meanwhile San Miguel took over as Alab’s chief backer after the latter and former sponsor Tanduay decided to part ways midway through the tournament.

Alab trailed by one, 90-91, with less than a minute to go following a split free throw by Chong Son’s Justin Howard. But Brownlee hit two charities and made key defensive stops the rest of the way to help snare the win.

The home team struggled in regulation but Parks, Brownlee and Balkman kept Alab in the match before Josh Urbiztondo drilled in three straight triples to force overtime.
