Child attacked by stray dogs, dies

In a heart rending incident, a one and a half years old boy was attacked by dogs which resulted in his death at Ghatwali Gali, PGBT College under Gautam Nagar police station on Thursday morning. The rude behaviour by BMC official augmented the pain of the family members.

The deceased infant  identified as Shaikh Raza was attacked by stray dogs in the morning and he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

Investigating Officer SI Karamvir Singh said that at 7 am, the deceased was playing at nullah near his house and while he was playing he fell in the nullah and was attacked by stray dogs. The boy raised alarm for help and the locals rushed to his rescue and took him to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead.

After the preliminary investigation the body was sent for the post mortem and police have registered a case under section 174 of the CrPC.

Local residents were infuriated after they contacted BMC official Rajiv Saxena who responded in a rude manner. He said that the area where the incident took place do not comes under his purview.

Notably, Mahamai ka Bagh, Kailash Nagar, Indra Vihar Colony, Slaughter house area, Shahjehanabad, Karond, Semra, Ashoka Garden and Arera Colony areas have more number of stray dogs.

In the past three years around Rs 1.25 crore were spent for sterilisation of dogs. The officials have claimed of making the situations better for the past five years. In the population of around 1.5 lakh around 18000 dogs have been sterilised.
