London [U.K.], Feb.1 : Popular terms 'Hangry' and 'Mansplaining' along with several other terms have been added to the Oxford English Dictionary this January.
Out of 1,100 new additions, terms like 'Hangry', 'Mansplaining', 'EGOT', and 'Tomgirl' are some of the well-known ones.
Terms like 'Snowflake' has already been a part of English vernacular from the get-go, but they have been updated with new definitions in the recent feature.
According to The Independent, the word 'snowflake' is now used in an insulting manner for a person who is overly sensitive and easily offended. These persons are also characterised by a sense of entitlement or a special treatment.
'Mansplaining' is a term used when a man explains something to a woman in a condescending manner.
'Hangry' is what you feel when you are so hungry that you get angry and frustrated.
'EGOT' is a term familiar to all those who follow American award ceremonies. An artist who has won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony award is referred as an 'EGOT'. Only three people have made it to the list - Helen Hayes, Rita Moreno, and John Gielgud.
'Tomgirl' refers to a boy who behaves in a typically girlish manner.
Besides these words, a variety of acronyms also made it to the Dictionary. One such term is 'TTC' - meaning "Trying To Conceive".
