DUBAI: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has achieved a world record in the Sustainability Culture Indicator (SCI) achieving 88.8 per cent in 2017, which exceeds the global average of 62 per cent achieved by the international participating entities during the same year.
The Sustainability Culture Indicator is conducted annually by organisations to measure their ability to instil a culture of sustainability among the business community. The survey saw the participation of over 3,000 employees from Dewa’s different divisions and departments. The results showed a remarkable increase across all individual and organisational levels in the areas of commitment, leadership, and sustainability.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa, said, “In line with the vision of the UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to achieve comprehensive sustainable development and promote sustainability, Dewa attaches great importance to sustainability as the key driver for improving the performance, services, and operations. The indicator offers credible, transparent, and in-depth results, based on a reliable methodology. This has enabled us to identify the level of awareness that has been adopted among employees regarding sustainability,” said Al Tayer.
