PANAJI: Tourism minister Manohar Azgaonkar on Wednesday announced that the Shigmo festivities would be held across the state from March 3-17.

The programme, including the float parade, was finalised at a meeting attended by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) chairman Nilesh Cabral, officials of Goa police, traffic cell, and various municipal bodies.

Several issues including float parade schedules, routes and other arrangements were deliberated upon. It was strongly emphasised that all float parades should start on time, while entries for the parades should be submitted atleast 8 days in advance to the respective committees.

In order to ensure smooth conduct of the float parade, it was suggested that the romtamel should commence at around 4pm and the float parades by 6pm so that the parades conclude by 10pm. It was also decided that large trolleys carrying the tableaux should not be allowed to move during the day.
