With Alice entering an eight-team district and the Corpus Christi ISD school joining a nine-team district, some of the early preseason planning which was already in place is changing.

Prior to the announcement of the UIL’s realignment and reclassification Thursday morning, Alice coaches had setup non-district games against Laredo Alexander, H.M. King, Corpus Christi Ray and Miller.

Alice coach Kyle Atwood was expecting Alice to be a part of a seven-team district, which is why four games were added.

The Alice program ended up in an eight teams with Calallen, Floresville, Gregory-Portland, Port Lavaca-Calhoun, Tuloso-Midway, San Antonio Southside and Somerset. At the same time, the CCISD schools suddenly didn’t need as many non-district games either.

The end results was Alice will begin the next two seasons with games against Laredo Alexander and Kingsville. With the Corpus Christi schools pulling out, Alice added Rockport-Fulton as their third non-district game.

Coaches from each of the teams in the new district met Thursday and settled on schedules for the coming season.
