PORTSMOUTH, N.H.
A New Hampshire city is preparing for the move-in of new residents into a restored apartment building made from a former brewery.
The Brew House in Portsmouth will be home to at least 40 new residents Thursday after years of neglect. The Portsmouth Herald reports developer Eric Chinburg bought the Brew House and neighboring 1884 House, and is working to restore the buildings into apartments and commercial spaces.
Objects found in the antique building are now displayed as art in the lobby, which will serve as a shared common space. Industrial doors now hang as wall art and antique wood has been recycled into shelving.
The 1884 House next door, once a fermentation building for the Frank Jones Brewery, is expected to be open by March.
