Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the first defence corridor will be built starting from Tamil Nadu, linking Chennai and Bengaluru. Earlier in the day, while presenting the Union Budget 2018, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley stated that the government will develop two defence industrial production corridors to promote the defence sector in the country. Sitharaman said the announcement for the second corridor will soon be made. She also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and FM Jaitley for making the decisions which were requested by the Defence Ministry in regard of the sector.
