Furman hits 15 3-pointers to beat Mercer 85-73

Devin Sibley scored 21 points and Furman shot 51 percent from the field to beat Mercer 85-73 on Thursday night.

Furman (16-7, 7-3 Southern Conference) has won three of its last four games. Mercer (10-13, 3-7) has lost four straight.

The Paladins shot 28 of 55 from the field, were 15-of-30 shooting from long range and made 14 of 18 free throws.

Sibley made four 3-pointers, and John Davis III added 14 points and seven of Furman's 18 assists. Jordan Lyons had 12 points, Andrew Brown chipped in 11 and Matt Rafferty had 10.

Jordan Strawberry scored 18 points to lead five in double-figure scoring for Mercer, which shot 45 percent from the floor (30 of 66), but missed 21 of its 26 3-point attempts (19 percent).

Brown and Sibley each made a 3-pointer, Rafferty a layup, and Fowler capped an 11-6 surge with a dunk for a 58-49 advantage with 12:13 remaining. Back-to-back 3-pointers from Lyons and Sibley stretched the lead to 70-54 with 7:11 left.
