Former Benedictine Military Academy standout Brad Stewart has been named to the 2017 All-Atlantic Coast Conference academic football team.
Stewart, a junior at Georgia Tech, named to the team for a second straight year.
The Yellow Jacket wide receiver started all 11 games for the Yellow Jackets in 2017, ranking second on the team in receptions (four) and third in receiving yards (99), good for a whopping 24.8 yards per catch.
He also ranked 34th nationally last season in punt return-average at 6.6 yards per return. For his career, Stewart has caught 30 passes for 574 yards (19.1 avg.) and averaged 8.5 yards per punt return. In addition to being named to the all-ACC academic football team as a sophomore in 2016, he was also named first-team academic all-district.
The All-ACC academic team recognizes the conference’s top performers on the field and in the classroom. To be considered, a student-athlete must own a minimum 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average for his academic career. Athletic achievements for the most recent season were also considered when selecting the 68-member team from a pool of 144 nominees.
