ELLWOOD CITY — The January meeting of the Municipal Woman's Club was held at Calvin Presbyterian Church. President Sandy Blank opened the meeting. Invocation was read by chaplain Dee Maietta. Secretary Nancy Walton took roll call and read the minutes from the November meeting. Treasurer Marcia Wallace was unable to attend, so the financial report was given by Blank.
Susan Gilchrist, civic chairwoman, announced her project for the January meeting was collecting money for the Ellwood City Fire Department. She also spoke about forming this year's scholarship committee. House Tour Co-Chairwoman Barb Beachem gave the report on the club's December house tour.
Program Chairwoman Cindy Skvarla spoke about the club's programs scheduled for this year. Nancy Walton introduced the evening's speaker, Earla Marshall of the Kitchen Cabinet. She spoke about how the group began and what the club is about.
Social Co-Chairwoman Gerry Mantz thanked the luncheon committee consisting of Chairwoman Pat Skvarla and hostesses Jaye Scopellite, Sandy Blank and Cindy Skvarla.
Phyllis Conway, Ways and Means co-chairwoman, spoke on the club's fall raffle ticket sell and the upcoming fashion show on April 19 at Shakespeare's Restaurant with fashions presented by Christopher & Banks.
Kathy Gorzkowski gave the card report and Pat Skvarla said the log book is up to date.
The Jill Pot was won by Pat Skvarla. The next club meeting is Feb. 26. Attorney Gene Dimeo will be the guest speaker.
