ENGLAND may have trounced Australia in the recent One Day International cricket series but there's now a chance for ordinary Aussies to get revenge in the poms' own backyard.

A British start-up is offering a fully furnished £3.2 million (A$5.6 million) home in the swanky London suburb of Knightsbridge for the person who can best pass a cricketing-related test - and the competition has just been opened to Aussies.

It requires entrants to play a game of "spot the ball" by picking a spot on the stock photograph (above) where they think the ball, which has been edited out the image, should be.

The person whose guess is the closest (and also pays the £10 entrance fee) will win the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home, along with a Jeep Wrangler worth about $100,000, which will be shipped to Australia if won by an Aussie.

The prize also covers stamp duty, council tax for the first year and about $1600 in energy costs, as well as legal fees and insurance on the car.

The judge of the contest will be a professional English cricket player, who will determine where he thinks the middle of the ball is.

Your Laddr, the company giving away the home on London's Walton St, will only give away the house if they sell all 380,000 tickets - otherwise the prize will be the accumulated cash instead.

The competition had previously been open only to UK residents but high demand from Australian punters made the company decide to allow entrants from Down Under.

The apartment is spread across two floors and has a balcony overlooking what is one of London's most exclusive postcodes. Knightsbridge is home to the famous department store Harrods and much of the suburb overlooks Hyde Park.

Parking is rare in the area, but the giveaway includes a one-year parking permit.
