Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani, a senior Pakistani minister was found dead at his residence in Karachi on Thursday. Bijarani and his wife's bodies were found by the police in their house in the port city of Karachi.

Bijarani, a veteran leader of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), was the Planning and Development Minister in Sindh province. Previously, he had served as a senator and also served as Sindh's Education Minister.

Bijarani's wife, Fariha Razzaq, was a journalist. The police are investigating the murder from all possible angles.

According to reports, the couple's bodies were found in their bedroom, the door to which was locked. Police could not ascertain the cause of death.

Reports claim that a caller on the Rescue 15 helpline had called to report that two bodies were found an the Bijarani house.

PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto has demanded the police to share a report on the incident.

Condolences poured in after the news of the minister's death broke. Shehla Raza, Sindh assembly's deputy speaker said that it was a "huge loss" for the party.

"This is a very sad incident. I could never have imagined this could happen. I do not know anything else except that he is not among us right now," she told DawnNews.

Central Information Secretary, PPP took to Twitter to express her grief over the minister's death.
