Burnley were denied a “definite penalty” and the Clarets were “camped inside” the Newcastle United box searching for a winner at St James’ Park, claims Sean Dyche.
The Magpies drew 1-1 with Burnley on Wednesday evening, with a Karl Darlow own goal cancelling out Jamaal Lascelles’ opener.
Joselu also missed a penalty for the Magpies - United’s first of the season - after Kenedy was brought down by Phil Bardsley, but Dyche believes Burnley should have been awarded a spot kick of their own.
During the first half, Paul Dummett appeared to lunge in on Jack Cork in the United area, but referee Simon Hooper ignored the Clarets’ pleas for him to point to the spot.

“Unfortunately, we can’t get a penalty,” Dyche said after the draw at St James’ Park.
“It’s a definitely a penalty for Jack Cork, he turns in the box and realises he’s not going to get there, throws his body in the way, brings Cork down.
“It’s a definite penalty - but we just can’t get one.”
Dyche accepted that Newcastle were the better side during the first half at St James’ Park and deserved to take the lead.
However, during the final 10 minutes, the Burnley boss stresses his side were unlucky not to find a late winner having equalised with five minutes to go.
“Newcastle started much better, we gave away a good goal and then our response was terrific,” Dyche added.
“We’ve shown a lot of character. I’d have taken that after the first half because they were the better side.
“We still looked like we were finding our feet and it was almost a new group playing, in the sense that they haven’t played that many games together.
“We weren’t making the connections you need, but that got better in the second half and, in the end, we were the side going for the win.
“It’s frustrating when you haven’t won for a while and we are having a tough run at the moment, but we’ve got 35 points on the board and we’re back up to seventh in the Premier League.
“We responded after half-time and especially after their goal. And the last seven or eight minutes we were almost camped inside their box, so I was very pleased with the mentality.”
