Show bosses have confirmed that Suits will be back for an eight season but long time characters Rachel Zane (played by Meghan Markle) and Mike Ross (Patrick J Adams) will not be returning.
A statement from the USA Network said: “While we're excited for Season 8, everyone at USA will deeply miss Patrick and Meghan, and are grateful for the talent and commitment they brought to Suits season after season. We wish each of them nothing but the very best.”
A specific date has not yet been announced for season eight’s release but season seven is set to return from a hiatus on March 28.
Previous seasons of the US legal drama have all been released in June or July so the next one will likely follow suit.
Each season has also contained exactly 13 episodes with the last one airing in early March for the last three years. So while we can still hope for a summer released for season eight, it may be a little later than usual.
As Meghan Markle’s engagement to Prince Harry was announced in recent months so too was her resignation from the show.
“Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her,” USA Network said after news of the actress’ engagement.
Also leaving is her co-star an on screen love interest Patrick J Adams.
Speaking on leaving the show, Adams said: “Mike Ross has taught me a lot about commitment, hard work and the power of believing in yourself and I feel blessed that now we both get to walk out into the lives that we never dreamed we would actually be lucky enough to live.”

Filling the void that will be left by the departure of two of the show’s biggest stars is Grey’s Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl.
Playing a new member of the legal team, Samantha Wheeler in season eight, Heigl said she feels “incredibly lucky”.
“I have watched Suits from the very beginning,” she told Variety. “And feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family.”
Show runner Aaron Korsh said that this new character will threaten the team’s “status quo”.

“One thing is for sure — Samantha's wit, charm, loyalty, strength and vulnerability will all be put to the test as she muscles her way into the firm currently known as Pearson Specter Litt,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Returning to season eight will be many regulars including Gabriel Macht as Harvey Specter, Sarah Rafferty as Donna Paulsen, Rick Hoffman as Louis Litt and Dule Hill as Alex Williams.
Suits will air season eight episode 11 in the US on March 28.
