Area talent to perform at Blast of Bluegrass at the opera house

At 7 p.m. on March 3, the McPherson Opera House will be presenting an annual favorite event featuring the amazing talents of bluegrass musicians from all over Central Kansas.

The show, “Blast of Bluegrass,” features performances by the Smoky Valley Bluegrass Band, who are Dan Bruce on banjo, Don Alvord on guitar, Rollin Schmidt on dobro, Dave Secord on bass, Dan Carlson on banjo, and Matt Dudte on fiddle; the KBA Treblemakers, with members Dawson Tarrant, Jacob Metz, Logan Metz, Wayne Ruble, Mason Ruble, and Ella Bird; and the McKinney Sisters — Daryl, Randyl and Mikyl.

The format of the show will be familiar to past guests, which has always been extremely popular and very warmly received. The title of the show pretty much sums up what can be expected. An energetic, foot stompin’, toe tappin’ good time. Dancing encouraged!! Many locals are already familiar with these talented musicians. To those unfamiliar with the performers, this is an ideal event to experience the gravity of talent in McPherson County and its neighboring communities.

The show is a fund raiser for the McPherson Opera House. “We very much appreciate that these performers donate their time and talent to benefit the Opera House. We rely on donations to cover almost one-third of our operating expenses, and proceeds from an event such as this help contribute to that funding. “We’re not only grateful for the support of these performers, but also for the support from guests who purchase tickets,” said McPherson Opera House Director, Diane Fallis, adding “The show is so much fun—we encourage everyone, young and old, to come out and have a good time.”

Tickets are $20 (all inclusive), reserved seating. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit mcphersonoperahouse.org, call 620-241-1952, or stop by the box office at 219 S. Main Street.
