Starkville man arrested after church burglary

A Starkville man is in jail after being arrested and charged in connection to a burglary at a local church.

The Starkville Police Department said in a press release that 34-year-old Jimmie McCarter was arrested on Thursday and charged with commercial burglary after an incident that occurred on Jan. 27 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Evergreen Street.

McCarter was taken to the Oktibbeha County Jail, with bond set at $10,000.

He is scheduled to appear in Starkville Municipal Court on March 5 at 6 p.m.

SPD released several still photos on Wednesday of the suspects involved with the break-in at the church, which shows at least two people.

No other arrests have been announced at this time.
