Sally Ann Mahoney and some friends, who often shoot photographs early in the morning, went out early Wednesday to catch the rare moon event.

“It went behind the trees really quick,” said Mahoney, who has been taking photos for about four years.

Mahoney, a retired nurse, lives in the Hammock in Palm Coast.
