How Much Watching Time Do You Have This Weekend?

No matter how much free time you have this weekend, we have TV recommendations for you. Come back every Friday for new suggestions from our TV critic on what to watch.
This Weekend I Have … 20 Minutes, and I’m a Dog Person
‘Puppy Bowl XIV’
When to watch: Sunday at 3 p.m., on Animal Planet.
The Puppy Bowl is two hours long, but don’t feel as if you need to commit a huge chunk of time to it — one can experience the adorable power of doggos in smaller doses. This year’s event also includes: a chicken playing the national anthem; duckling, piglet and bunny cheerleaders; a sloth assisting the referee; and the traditional kitten halftime show, this time featuring Kitt-ENSYNC. If you prefer adult dogs, this year there’s also the Dog Bowl, which airs at 8 p.m. on Saturday, with the same gist but full-grown pooches.

… an Hour, and I Like Comedy
When to watch: Friday at 11:30 p.m., on HBO.
The comedians Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson take their stand-up podcast to the big leagues with this new HBO series. They serve as the hosts of four stand-up specials, each of which includes terrific acts and a casual segment with a celebrity guest. In the premiere, that guest is Jon Stewart; next week, it’s Sarah Jessica Parker. The banter can wander a little off course, but when it works, it’s fantastic, and the comedians are uniformly great.

… 4 Hours, and I Like Dramas About Messed-Up Families
When to watch: Now, on Acorn TV.
If you like shows about rich people having affairs, shows about food or British shows with “Game of Thrones” actors, consider this your personal jackpot. Iain Glen stars as Leo, a fancy chef having an affair — with his first wife (Dawn French), herself an accomplished chef. The show has a sad, dark streak, so go in knowing that it’s not all clattering clamshells and goblets of wine. Season 1 is only four episodes, which is not quite enough time to flesh out some of the big stories it’s going for. But Season 2 comes to Acorn in March.
