Flagler County deputies removed another credit card skimmer from a gas station in Palm Coast over the weekend.
According to a report, an employee at the Shell gas station, 320 Palm Coast Parkway NE, noticed the security seal was broken on one of the pumps Saturday morning. When the employee opened the door on the credit card scanner, she found the skimmer installed on the pump.
It was the fourth skimmer discovered at a Flagler County gas station this month and the third in less than a week. One was found Jan. 22 at a Mobil in Bunnell, 3495 South U.S. 1. A woman used her debit card at one of the pumps and found $407.53 worth of fraudulent charges on her bank statement days later. Another woman was victimized after using her credit card at a Mobil in Palm Coast, 220 Palm Coast Parkway NE. Authorities discovered that skimmer Jan. 23. Yet another skimmer was found Jan. 8 at the Mobil gas station.
Last July, inspectors from the Department of Agriculture examined gas pumps across the county and found six Bluetooth skimmers installed on pumps at four different stations.
After the recent discovery this weekend, deputies checked stations across the county for broken security seals on the gas pumps, but found none.
