Billboard in St. Paul: God tells Michele Bachmann ‘No’

Someone has gone to heavenly lengths to convince former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann to end her soul-searching about a possible U.S. Senate bid.

A billboard on University Avenue above Midway Books is addressed to Bachmann, the former Sixth Congressional District representative, with a one word message: “No.”

The messenger? The billboard is signed “God” and includes a cartoon depiction of the Supreme Being.

The message is apparently a response to past reports that Bachmann was praying in order to decide if she would seek the Senate seat recently vacated by Sen. Al Franken. Franken resigned Jan. 2 after allegations of sexual impropriety.

Gov. Mark Dayton appointed his lieutenant governor, Tina Smith, to the senate seat. She’s expected to run to complete Franken’s term in the fall.

So far, the only Republican in the race is state Sen. Karin Housley, of St. Mary’s Point. Bachmann has not signaled if she will run for the seat.

The billboard urging her not to run appears to be from the satirical website TheGoodLordAbove.com.
