Top gainers and losers of Thursday's session
As many as 35 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs while 25 hit fresh 52-week lows on NSE.
NEW DELHI: Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 closed flat on Thursday after the Union Budget 2018 reintroduced long-term capital gains tax.

The Nifty50 index settled 11 points down at 11,017, while Sensex declined 58 points to close at 35,907 on Thursday.

Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, IndusInd Bank and Bajaj Auto stood among the top gainers of the day.

On the contrary, Sun Pharma, ONGC, Dr Reddy's Labs, Aurobindo Pharma, Lupin and State Bank of India were among the top losers of the day.

Out of total 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 27 closed the day in the green, while 23 settled in the red.

Barring FMCG, auto and metal, all other sectoral indices settled in the red on NSE on Thursday.

Nifty Pharma and PSU bank indices cracked over 2 per cent on NSE on Thursday.
