The lights are on
Nintendo has announced that its much awaited fee-based online service for Switch is coming in September.
The Switch launched last March, but at the time the platform's online service was undefined. Currently online play is free for Nintendo account holders as a trial until September, and the service will cost $3.99 a month or $19.99 a year. It includes free game downloads (for the month only), online play, and more.
At the end of last year, Nintendo's Italian website seemed to indicate that the service would be delayed until the fall of 2018.

Our Take It'll be interesting to see what first- and/or third-party titles Nintendo uses to highlight the service when it launches. Maybe this will be a new title or extra content for a title currently out.

$20 a year isn't actually that bad of a price though I'm curious to see how this pans out.
If you only getting old gba/snes virtual games than 20 is ok.....now if they aren't including virtual console games than naw bruh y'all getting ripped. There are like only 2 games probably worth playing online anyway that has a decent online player count
Look man, I just want virtual console...
So by the free game "for the month only", I take that it means you can no longer play it at the start of the mext month?
Will the Virtual Console be subscription based or will you have to buy the games individually? This is why we need details. Come on Nintendo, it’s been nearly a year.
This is alright until you get to the part about only having said free game for one month only. Well whatever.
The least attractive feature of this console...
It would be nice if the games were not "for the month only". I have some Live and PSN ones I have yet to play. Have gotten to some of them. But sometimes I am busy with others or just do not have the time.
I like to think that Nintendo delayed the service to fix the awful voice-chat phone thing and build up the virtual console with Gamecube games. Maybe also close in on some app deals with other companies like Amazon or something.
I like to think that, but the realist in me says that this will probably end up being a terrible service that will hurt the console over all. I hope im wrong.
Release the GC version of Smash Bros on virtual console and take my money!
If they would add online support for virtual console I'd be all in. Tecmo super bowl would be amazing online, plus river city ransom, and too many others to list.
