Budget 2018: What the Finance Minister Allocated for Health Sector
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced a healthcare scheme that he said will be the "world's largest government funded healthcare programme". Ten crore families will get 5 lakh per year for their families to cover secondary and tertiary hospital expenses.

New Delhi: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday announced major allocations to the health sector. Here are some of the key highlights from the FM's speech:
1. Only a Swastha Bharat can be Smriddha Bharat. Demographic dividend realization impossible without proper healthcare.
2. Health and wellness centres to bring healthcare closer and more accessible to people.
3. Announcing National Health Policy 2017 with a Rs 1200 crore allocation.
4. Rashtriya Samaj Beema Yojana: Healthcare protection to a new aspirational level. We are now launching a new national health protection scheme.
5. The scheme will be the world's largest government funded healthcare program. 10 crore families will get 5 lakh per year for their families to cover secondary and tertiary hospital expenses.
6. Announcing Rs 600 crore corpus to set up to help TB patients.
7. This will build a new India in 2022 and enhance productivity and will also generate lakhs of jobs for women. We are progressing towards Universal Health Coverage.
8. PM Jeevan Beema Yojana has benefitted more than 2 crore families.
