Nearly 1,0000 homes and businesses were without power in eastern Oakland County Thursday evening due to an equipment problem, DTE Energy reports on its outage map.

The outage occurred at 5:17 p.m. and it impacted the area between South Boulevard and Avon Road between Rochester and Dequindre roads, cutting power for 921 buildings and causing traffic lights to not work during the evening rush hour.

According to DTE’s early estimate, restoration of electricity was expected to occur by 9 p.m. Thursday; however, power was back on much early, well before 7 p.m. Thursday.
