VietJet one of the famous Vietnamese airlines is under fire for putting a mid-air lingerie show for the national under 23 football team. The budget airlines has been fined by the country’s aviation authority. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has levied a fine of 40 million dongs ( USD 1761) and the authority has also fined the plane’s chief stewardess 4 million dongs for jeopardizing the safety. “Despite the fact the Vietjet event didn’t jeopardize the safety of the flight, it could still have posed a safety risk,” CAAV said in a statement, as per Reuters report. VietJet chartered an exclusive flight to carry the team from under 23 Asian Football Championship finals in China as welcome even though they lost the match to Uzbekistan.

VietJet is already notorious for their scantily clad flight air hostesses.  The photos and videos of the players looking awkward as bikini-clad flight staff interacting with them emerged on the internet and the same has irked many Vietnamese. Many netizens took to Twitter and slammed the airlines for resorting to cheap PR stunt.”Do you want to rename Vietjet ‘Vietjerk’, or ‘Vietsex’?” Facebook user Ngoc Nhung posted on social media. In the video, one can see bikini-clad air hostesses sauntering the aisles during the flights. Here is the video:

“Vietjet’s move was so rude, cheap, and offensive to the team, the fans and even its passengers,” another Facebook user, Nguyen My Linh, wrote, as The Daily Mail of Britain report. Many also vowed to boycott the airlines. After the incident, VietJet’s CEO who is also the first female billionaire of Vietnam apologized for the “improvised performance on the airlines’ official Facebook page. This was an improvised performance by the logistics team that was not part of the company’s programme,” Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao wrote in the now deleted statement.  What are your views on the same?
