Attack on police at behest of top BNP leaders: Quader

2018-02-01_bss-31_660102DHAKA: – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the attack on police personnel was carry out as per the order of BNP top leaders, reports BSS.

“This attack has no relation with intruders.. It was a pre-planned attack in militant style at the order of BNP’s top leaders and the leaders are the mastermind of the attack,” he told the journalists after attending a function at CIRDAP auditorium here.

Quader was addressing a function regarding the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Roads and Highways Department and JAICA on Western Bridge Improvement Project.

Quader said, “If BNP carries out sabotage, violence, or arson attacks on the people in the name of movement centering the verdict of BNP Chief Begum Khaleda Zia’s corruption case, the common people will resist such acts.”

The government has no role regarding the verdict of court, he said, adding, “We would not instigate anything over the verdict as we are in power and it is our responsibility to maintain law and order in the country.”

Under the project signed today, a total of 19 bridges would be built in Rangpur zone and 16 bridges in Rajshahi zone.

The government will pay Taka 1,700 crore for the project while JAICA will pay Taka 7 905 crore and the project will be completed by June, 2020.
