A Sherwood couple, Clyde Black, 32, and his wife, Katrina, 36, are in jail facing life felony charges of criminal sexual conduct for providing “sex education” to a 14-year-old girl.
COLDWATER — A Sherwood couple, Clyde Black, 32, and his wife, Katrina, 36, are in jail facing life felony charges of criminal sexual conduct for providing “sex education” to a 14-year-old girl.
According to the probable cause affidavit, in March 2017 the couple decided that the girl needed education because she had begun dating.
As a result, Clyde Black is facing charges of four counts of first-degree CSC, all life felonies.
The husband allegedly had oral sex with the girl numerous times with the knowledge of Katrina, who witnessed the acts.
“I never had sex with her,” Clyde Black told Branch County District Court Judge Brent Weigle during video arraignments Wednesday, although he admitted to Michigan State Police that he had “relations” with her.
The wife, Katrina is also facing charges of two counts of first-degree CSC for having sex with the girl. She is also being charged with one count of second-degree child abuse, a 10-year felony, plus one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes, a four-year offense, for convincing the girl to participate with her husband.
The girl had wanted to stop the encounters — which reportedly occurred two to three times a week — but met resistance from the couple, so she went to authorities.
Judge Weigle set bond at $400,000 for Clyde Black and at $250,000 for Katrina Black.
Preliminary proceedings are set for both on Feb. 8 and Feb. 13.
If convicted as charged, the couple would be subject to lifetime electronic monitoring when released from prison and lifetime registration on the sex offender registry.
Katrina said she is not employed. Her husband said his only income is disability payments because he suffers from fetal alcohol syndrome, ADHD and bi-polar disorder.
