The closing day of 2018 Taipei Game Show (TGS) had large groups of players flocking in. Throughout the exhibition, TGS attracted nearly 80,000 people on average each day and a total of 350,000 people for the four-day exhibition. On the closing day, players are taking their last opportunities to join stage activities. Ubisoft gave a Harley-Davidson to one of its game fans, while the company of “Richman Fight” was given away eSports gears worth tens of thousands. All of this has brought large crowds into TGS. On the other hand, game companies have also prepared both new and much anticipated games for this year’s TGS. Renowned game producers, voice actors, game developers, and endorsers were invited to share about the latest news and game development. In addition, splendorous stages based on game scenes also reflect the emphasis that game companies place on gamers from Taiwan. This in turn shows the standing of TGS in Asia.

B2B Zone was proactively connecting the gaming industry in Taiwan to the world. This year, a total of 279 game companies and teams from 27 countries are invited to visit as exhibitors. Almost 2,400 trade visitors had visited over its two-day span, with 3,000 business matching sessions held. On the other hand, Asia Pacific Game Summit, which started on the same day as the B2B Zone, covering five themes with eSports, marketing and promotion, indie games, AR/VR, and game development. In particular, eSports Panel covered many areas, including eSports trends, operation strategies, tournament hosting, and the training of eSports players’ mind and skills.

Producers Shared News on New Games and Game Development

2018 Taipei Game Show not only turns Taiwan into a hub for game companies in Asia to exchange views and information, but also provided a platform for avid fans and players to interact with game producers. Apart from exhibiting their games, renowned game companies also took the opportunity to announce localization projects of their signature IPs, and even let players try out upcoming games. Companies including BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Taiwan Ltd., PlayStation, Ubisoft, and SEGA GAMES had invited game producers to TGS to talk about ideas behind game development, make game localization announcements, and share tips to complete missions.

More Collaboration to Come: Better B2B Zone and More Internationalized B2C Zone to Be Expected

In the future, Taipei Game Show will continue to seek opportunities to collaborate with other international game exhibitions to strengthen Taiwan’s connection with the international gaming industry and increase the exposure of Taiwan game developers on the international stage. Through such efforts, Taipei Game Show hopes to bring into its B2B and B2C Zones more game companies and developers from around the world, as well as professionals from the gaming industry, thereby edging towards becoming the largest game exhibition in Asia. With a unique and avid player base in Taiwan, Taipei Game Show has become an important event to showcase indie game content and localized games targeted at Chinese-speaking markets, providing media exposure to games soon to be released and localized into Chinese. Furthermore, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between Taipei Game Show and Tokyo Game Show manifests its determination to bring on more exchanges with game companies and players in Japan.
