MOST ACCURATE FORECAST: Near record 80s this week in the Valley
PHOENIX - The 80s are back and it's only January!
With high pressure in control this week, temperatures are soaring and approaching records.
Valley highs will top out at 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year each day this week.
Phoenix maxed out in the low 80s today, and as of 4:40 p.m., we hit 83 degrees, tying the record high set back in 1935!
With this dry weather and more gusty winds today, wildfire danger is high across south-central Arizona. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for areas south of the Valley, along I-10, all the way down to the Arizona-Mexico border.
Gusts in spots south of Phoenix could be as high as 35 to 40 mph, so watch for areas of blowing dust if you're traveling along I-10 today.
Here in the Valley, peak gusts will reach 20 to 25 mph.
Winds will lighten up tomorrow with a few more clouds moving in, but our forecast will stay dry all week.
Valley highs will reach the upper 70s to low 80s each afternoon all the way through next weekend.
Daily records are in the low to mid 80s, so most of those should stay safe, but Friday's record is just 82 degrees and our forecast right now puts us within a degree of that as we wrap up the week.
