The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded that the government order an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the murder of B. Srinivas, husband of Nalgonda municipal chairman, who was brutally killed recently.
Congress MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and others described the killing as a “political murder.” The police are aware of the “pre-planned” incident, he said. The police inquiry into the incident itself has several lacunae and the call data of the accused was not revealed so far.
Srinivas was warned by the assailants a week in advance and was killed subsequently, he alleged, charging the government with encouraging “murder politics”.
Mr. Venkat Reddy said the incident had reflected the inefficiency of the government and apprehended that conspiracy had been hatched for eliminating former MLA Ch. Lingaiah.
Mr. Lingaiah is receiving similar warning calls and the police have not initiated any steps as yet to ensure protection to him in spite of submitting the list of numbers from which the former MLA received the threatening calls.
“The government should entrust the probe to the CBI if it is confident that there is no involvement of the ruling party leaders in the incident,” he said.
The TPCC has lost confidence in the government and is preparing to approach the court seeking an impartial probe into the incident.
He charged the police with giving false information about the events that led to the murder of Srinivas. “Why did not the police interrogate other culprits allegedly involved in the incident in spite of lodging a complaint?” he asked.
He termed as painful the manner in which the Nalgonda Superintendent of Police responded to the killing and alleged that collusion of higher officials of police is evident in the “government-sponsored murder”.
