GOPALGANJ, Jan 29: A youth was killed and his brother injured in a clash at Bahra Village under Muksudpur Upazila here on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Mahabul Molla, 30, son of Esken Molla, of the village. His elder brother Habib Molla, 32, was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-Charge of Muksudpur Police Station Md. Azizur Rahman said a conflict had been going on between Abul Khayer and Afsar Molla of the village following the last union parishad election.
On Friday, Mahabul Molla, supporter of Afsar Molla, went to buy poultry from the farm of Abul Khayer when Mahabul and Abul Khayer were locked in an altercation.
Following this, Abul Khayer's men took Mahabul and his brother Habib inside the farm and beat them severely.
Later, they were rescued and rushed to Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared Mahabul dead.
