After many renowned Sufi singers having performed Sufi Gayaki in remembrance of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30 at Lokrang since 33 years, this time another noted name in Sufi sangeet Kanwar Grewal would give a performance in Bhopal.
To observe the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a cultural event ‘Peer Parayi Jaane Na Re’ would be held at BHEL Dusshera Ground. Under the event, Kanwar Grewal would perform Sufi sangeet before the Bhopalites.
Each year, Lokrang concludes with Peer Prayi Jaane Na… Presenting various cultural events this year too, the fest would conclude on January 30 with the sufi tunes in the melodious voice of Punjabi Sufi singer Kanwar Grewal.
The event is being organized by the Directorate of Swaraj Sansthan at the Lokrung Festival. Kanwar Grewal gave a new direction to Sufi music. Kanwar Grewal, born in Mehma Sawai of Bhatinda, has been deeply interested in singing since childhood. Singing in a program at the school, the first performance was a laugh. Adopted the formal education of music from Patiala and in the year 2013, the album established a different identity among the audience. The fakir song of Aradhas, the Bollywood movie of Punjab, made you reach the stage of publicity overnight. Several albums like Jogi Nath, Rangey V, Tumba, Jaheer, Mast Jogi have been released.
The journey of his singing continues to movies, music industry and television. He has performed at musical shows ay M TV, Punjab TV and many Star Night Award festivals. Shabad keertan and many Sufi albums have also been released in his pensive voice. Not only in India but also in many countries, he has enlightened the audience by giving stage performances of Sufi singing.
