Lieutenant-Governor (LG) Anil Baijal on Monday launched a Mobile App 311 for all the three Municipal Corporations of Delhi in a brief ceremony at Raj Niwas on Monday. The App will empower the users to find public toilets, police stations, metro stations, petrol pumps, parking, hospitals, bus stands, veterinary clinics, libraries, gyms, markets and other nearby places by their current location. This App can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Being the nodal agency, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC has contributed substantially in the launch of the App for the benefit of the residents of the three MCDs which cover 94 per cent of total area of the Capital City.
A senior corporation official said that the citizens will also be able to get in touch with emergency departments like control room, fire ambulance, disaster management and women helpline.
All the three Mayors, Standing Committee Chairmen and Commissioners and senior officers of the IT department of the SDMC were present on the occasion. Parsing the move, Baijal also said that the launch is in accordance with the programme of digitisation being promoted by Prime Minister Narender Modi.
