Brahmapur Mahanagar Mohotsav in full swing

The Mahanagar Mahotsav, which is underway at the KC Town High School playground here, reached fourth day on Monday.

The Mahanagar Sanskrutika Parishad, a leading socio-cultural organisation of mediapersons and intellectuals, is observing the festival.

On inaugural Friday, a band of intellectuals, lawyers, MLA Dr RC ChyaupPatnaik, Prof NC Padhi, BDA Chairman Subash Maharana, trade union leader and senior lawyer Sudhansu Sekhar Panda, Mahotsav committee president Umasankar Panigrahi, ADM Bijay Kumar Das and journalists Gopal Pattnaik and P Das were present.

Hailing the MSP efforts, speakers said the event would act as a platform for artists for showcasing rich art and cultural traditions of Ganjam district.

On the third day on Sunday, Minister Surjya Narayan Patro gracing as chief guest described Ganjam as an ocean of rich culture and art that have been recognised at international level.

Among others, State Welfare Board Chairperson Latika Pradhan, State Women Cooperative Development Corporation Chairperson Sreemayee Mishra, BMC Mayor K Madhavi, social worker Reena Routray, Assistant Professor of the Jail Training School Sudipta Panigrahi, Assistant Director of AIR Hrushikesh Panigrahi, BDA Secretary Dipti Mahapatra and Chairperson Subash Maharana graced as other guests.

A seminar named “Security of Women in the Contemporary Society” was held followed by an Oddisi dance performed by artists of the “Oddissi Sangeet Parishad”. Marshal Art was performed by the Taikonda Academy followed by skating by  the Bibhuti Skating Group and a modern dance jointly performed by artists of  Gajapatinagar Saraswati Sishu Mandir and Waoo Dance Group. A Bhajan programme was also held by artists of the Bagdevi Group.

Well known Artist Kartik Panigrahi coordinated the entire cultural programme.
